SAICBA-Q Hosts Successful Summer Soiree at Moon Bar

On an absolutely pristine day in Queens, we gathered at the Moon Bar & Rooftop to celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month with a lively steel pan band and some good food! Honored at the event were Hon. Sylvia Hinds-Radix (Ret.) and Mark Persaud, Esq..

Judge Hinds-Radix, who previously led the NYC Law Department and oversaw the operations of the Family Court Division, the City’s prosecutorial arm of Family Court, told attendees the story of her upbringing and what motivated her to pursue a career in law and ultimately rise to the bench. Mark Persaud described how he became involved with SAICBA-Q and why he is remains as motivated as ever to continue supporting the organization’s mission statement. Mark Persaud is a litigation associate at Mallilo & Grossman, a personal injury law firm in Queens. Mark is passionate about encouraging aspiring lawyers to follow their dreams.

Attendees also heard some inspiring remarks from SAICBA-Q co-founder Ali Najmi, Esq. who encouraged all attendees to remain actively involved in our organization’s efforts to diversify the bench and broaden access to justice for all.
